Oops forgot title

Here it is, Sept 20th., and we are on our way to Albuquerque. This is our 4th year as a Navigator at the Albuquerque International Balloon Festival.
So where are today? We had thought about heading to the Elks lodge in Las Vegas, NM. We love this Elk's, friendly, FHU with 30 amps. But, we said lets go to the state park just a few miles outside of Las Vegas.

Storrie Lake State Park, it has a few 30 amps site along with water, many sites with just water and then the dry camping along the shore line.

Weather has been very helpful, breeze, even though in the low 80's it is very comfortable. We choose a non-electric site, and we have not been sorry. Each morning is a walk, checking out the new sites and photo ops, like these:

The black line is not a crack in the pavement, that is a very long line of ants, moving to a new home. The line must have stretched at least 25 feet.

New Solar Light Wind Directions device. It really works.

So, any special photos shots along the way down? You Decide.

Our overnight stop in Raton, I spotted this place on Google maps:

Using Satellite View I found this empty building.

Now, as long as we are in Colorado, specially around Los Animas, Co., we always stop in and see Rose, my ex., but still close friend.
As we drove along this is the first time spied Ladies of the Day waiting:

Then just down the road we saw the well preserve Train Depot.

Our first stop was along a familiar one, taken back in 2013 and 2014, Fort Morgan, Co. We had stopped at the city park in 2013. Well, the park is still there but no overnight parking. We thought we try Walmart in town, Nope not allowed.

I have read about a municipal park in Brush, Co., 7 miles east of Ft. Morgan. We located the Brush Memorial Campground. What was once free for the first night is now $25, but hey 50 amps and water if needed.

Anyway, back to Las Vegas, we have decided to stay here until Monday, where we will head over to Cochiti Lake, a COE CG, where we will stay until time to head in to AIBF, 1st of Oct.

So stay safe, stay tune

Day 2

As we continued on our journey on Arizona Hwy 93, this highway is also known as the "Killer Highway", due in part because it's the way to Las Vegas and of course the stupid drivers.

I spied some interesting photos ops. Only issue, is the spots on the windshield - Bugs. So, just overlook the spots:

We're stopped. And you woke me for that?

Mommy, daddy won't let me in his lap while you are driving...

Susan and I switched driving back in Wickenburg. When we arrived in Kingman, it was time for me to take over: Now Susan was on the camera, taking photos.

We settled in at a Thousand Trails Campground just outside Las Vegas. As TT goes this place is tight, with just enough room for our slide. It is also not level, so be careful. Many places are taken over by VERY LONG term Rv's and campers.

Good thing we will only be spending 1 night, anymore and well let’s just say – not worth the effort.

While we were walking round we spied 3 other Alfa's, no one was out and around, so we do not know who they belong to.

Las Vegas New Mexico–25 days to AIBF

We landed at the Elks lodge, spent 2 nights, with full hookups, which all we used was electric. Spent time inside visiting elks, and having good conversation on the future of the Elks.

On Sunday, we spent some of the day, walking around downtown. The early morning is the best to get photos of the area with few people. We found a good coffee shop, just been open over 4 months. Took some good shops of the building and the sculpture in the plaza.

We then went to old town, and repeated the same. Including seeing the train station. Where twice a day a Amtrak stops by to pickup passengers.

As we walked around town, I was able to capture some unique shots:

We definitely will come back, as there are many places we have missed.

On DaRoad to AIBF–26 Days and Counting

We got on the road around 7:24 am, on Sat. morning. We had disconnected water and sewer the night before, and cleaned up around the area. In the morning all we needed to do was, connect the truck, electric, and remove the leveling blocks.

As we were leaving, Susan, Tilly and Dakota were watching the road for me, ensuring I did not make a wrong turn:

We arrived at the Elks Lodge around 10:30 am. just in time for this:

Poker run around town and up to a lake north of town. As we were walking, we met and talked to a few of the people going on the run. We were invited back, to join in with the dinner and fun, but did not quite make it in time.

After settling in – we drove over to a Farmers market we saw coming in:

Once back, and stopping at a DQ, Yes Dakota, we know, a DQ a Day Keeps the Beast a Happy Dog..

Once back at the Rv, we parked, setup and relax for a few minutes, then it was off again.

We had chance upon a Fire Department setup at a park downtown, we were informed Hamburgers were being served around 12:30.

This time it was 5 miles out of town, to take a look at Storrie Lake State park.

As state parks go, this one have reservation sites, dry-camping sites, and a few walk in sites.

Rates are from $8 to $14, very easy and nice spots.
