Final Day on DaRoad to AIBF

Monday was our final day on the road to the AIBF RV lot. Our plan was to spend Sunday night at the Joe Skeen CG. Will that turned out to be a bust. Mostly due to no spots for Gus.

So, we headed out and stopped in at the Dancing Eagle Travel Center. For a Truck stop not bad. But I did wake up to units all around us. While we walked around I took a few shots of some of the more interesting sights.

As we got into Albuquerque, traffic, came to s standstill. This was due to a fatal roll-over. Gus took over an hour to go 4 miles. But hey we were in Gus.

Once we got back on the main road, it was off to AIBF South Rv Lot. We were lucky, as we arrived and were directed to our row. I notice, we are being pushed further back. This is due to the Tours taking more rows, with there power station.

I am hoping we do not get pushed any further, as then we will not be able to level our MH.

Wrapping up On the Road to AIBF or our 1st & 2nd Day

Our first day was Tuesday Sep 28th. and we completed setup on Wed Sep. 29th.

Susan and I droved the truck down and parked next to the Navigator Tent.  We both agree it will be a different event inside the tent. Just remember, agreements were reached between AIBF and the State of New Mexico. Since this is a private event, it is a privilege to volunteer here and not a right.

Our Goal the safety and well being of the Volunteers here at AIBF.

Road Less Traveled

We are currently at a Truck stop at exit 108. Joe Skeen Campground was not big rig friendly except at 2 sites which were taken.

However, we did make a impromptu stop.

Today is the Day

Sunday, Sep 26, final day or would it be morning here in Show Low. Susan has done an excellent job, finalizing the Happy Cabin.

When we started this adventure, we assumed that it would only take a few weeks to get everything done. Little did we realize the amount of time required to complete the needed repairs and upgrades. We arrived on July 1, and here it is almost 3 months later. Yet with the help from Mike and Lorrainne, alot of help from them. It is done. We truly are thankful for our wonderful friends.

Relaxing evening at Music in the Pines

On Friday, a photographer came over to take photographs of the Happy Cabin and surrounding area. The photos will be uploaded to the Evolve-Vacation-Rental-Management website.

Our plan, is to rent the Happy Cabin. In fact Susan has signed up for the Traveling Nurses Rental Program. This will allow the Happy Cabin to help pay for itself.

The photographer was well pleased with what she saw. Her statement? We would get many repeat clients. We'll see. Susan, designed the Happy Cabin to bring out that home feeling.

Did I mention the Happy Cabin is Fido friendly.

Richard popped up on Friday, as he had 2, last Dr.'s appointments this week. He and Marley are enjoying the cool mountain air. He is amazed at the changes that Susan has made.

Now onto AIBF.

Our route - Oh, you want Photos? well stay tune and keep reading DaGirls Blog.

Ok, our route will take up east along Hwy 60 to Springerville. Where we will continue along Hwy 60 to Quemado, NM. Once there we will take New Mexico State Hwy 36  (Press Here for Clicky) heading North then turn onto New Mexico State Hwy 117 (Press Here for Clicky). This will eventually take us to Joe Skeen BLM CG, (Press Here for Clicky)

So, on Monday, we will head north on NM State Hwy 117 to I-40, continue our journey east. Plan is to arrive sometime after 10am, at the South AIBF Rv lot.

Our total miles from Show Lot to the Rv lot: 260 miles per our plan route, and 300 miles via way of I-40 north of Show Low, if we had chosen that route.

Our plan route will allow us to see something new, stop and smell the roses (thanks Wayne).
