Tuesday - 16 Weeks and Counting are sooner

So, here we are (May 25th, 10 MDST), oops, the sun is trying to come out, but alas no. And weather warming with additional rain and cold weather for the week into Memorial Day. And yes I am late again.

Why, well if you had been watching the weather - we went from a Weather Advisory to a Weather Warning. Warning? What warning, well snow to be exact, yes, snow. We went from 70's down to low 30's and up to 6 inches of snow in 2 days.

Was it cold? YES, being a desert rat, we come to love the warm weather, sunny and amazing views.

ROAD TRIP to MacDonald Pass and westward.

And yes there are Elks in Montana as seen in the center of the above photo

Once we came back into Helena, more snow... you can see what Dakota thinks about that.

Oh, by the way the US Navy has arrived in the Lake

Yes, I cannot explain the reason why the Navy arrived.

Ok, so, you may ask yourself how my LB (Lithium Batteries) are holding up to the cold.
One draw back to the LB is the freezing weather. LB cannot/should not be charged while they are 32 degrees or less. In my design, I insulated and installed heaters behind and underneath and on the side facing the outside of the Rv.

With my system they stay in the 50's. Excellent.

Ok, back to the real world and get busy, or at least try to act busy.

Walk-A-Bout Helena

Weather Forecast for May 19 - 20 Winter Storm Warnings.

Dakota and I have 2 routes mapped out for hiking, which we take. Both are 1.7 miles, along the shoreline. Which at the rate the water is rising, we have until mid-June, where we will have to stop.

The MacDonald Pass, which is West of Helena on the Divide is expecting about 6 to 16 inches of snow. So, we'll see what happens. Temp today low 50's, with 40's on Thu. and Fri.

Did you know MacDonald was not the original road heading west from Helena.

Nope, that belong to Priest Pass Toll Road owned by E.M. Dunphy

The Macdonald Pass tollhouse still exists toady, as part of a private home. The man for whom the pass is named, R. Alexander MacDonald, was an immigrant from Scotland. He operated the toll road for E. M. Dunphy, the man who built the road in 1867. MacDonald bought Dunphy out in 1876.

Woops - Wrong Turn

So we ended up in Helena 1 day earlier than planned due to road construction. Our plan, was a stop over in Butte at the Walmart. However, the exit was closed due to construction and typically once past we do not reverse course. So, it was going north on I-15 to Helena.

As is our plan, (sometimes), Susan took the first drive. As we headed north, this gave me opportunities for some photo ops.

Now the reason you do not see Butte, Mt. photos because is we changed drivers in Lima, Mt, at the rest stop. So, nothing of Butte.

However, don't be sadden, as we arrived in Helen, went to the U-Haul which is opened till 5pm on Sunday, for Propane.

Anyway, here we are, mostly setup and getting ready for opening weekend.

As it stands, we were asked for our input last year as to some changes we would like. Well, 1 change did not take place, and the other change well. Me, my guess, someone does not like changes. Even if they are for the better, and could be changed back, if they did not work out.

Well, there are a few other issues:

1), I warned them last year on a bad power feed. They explain, in the past they could never find it. Well leave it to me, not only did I find it, but explained what was causing it. No, problem, we'll get it fixed when the CG is closed.

The fix has been delayed we have been told. Me, to Dan, if it becomes a problem, we will give you our 2 weeks notice that we will be leaving. But, not to worry, we did give Dan an out. If he rather we didn't come in. All he needed to do was tell us, as we would go on enjoying our life traveling.

2), Per a phone call, yes the water will be turned on and ready. (this was 2 weeks ago). Well, that is not what really is going on. The real story is, test samples from the wells have been taken and sent to the environment agency. They have not heard back, so here we are, down to 35%, and nearing opening day. However, we were told that they have a truck that can bring us water.

My story, we better have a water delivery no later than Friday, or at least give me the water storage container and I will have it filled up.

Anyway, here we are. Susan has been busy, as she has cleaned all up the sites. Me, doing small things, nothing major, except for I did get a few flights under my belt.
