Nevada -

Ok, so don’t get usedto the day by day blogs, too many things can get in the way for me to post everything. However, I will make sure to do a wrap up for each week or something special.

So, we left TT Las Vegas, early this morning (4/27), headed out to Pahrump, NV. It all it was about 50 miles, with traffic and a long hill climb.

At least I did score a few photos from TT in LV:

No photos of the travel this time, but hey what can you expect....

The park in Pahrump is an RPI park, so Susan scored us $13.50 a day. Not bad, considering, the sites are huge, compared to LV TT. Easy to park, level enough we did not have issues. Puppy friendly, 4 small dog runs, but puppies are welcome around the park.

I did manage to score a few shots of the Preferred Rv Park.

I also did a walk outside the park, I spied some snow remaining on the peak and a few Rv’s calling the land home, even if they do leave lots of trash around.

There are 2 casinos within walking distance, along with a good restaurant near by.

Saturday, we loaded up, and headed out.

To where, well Death Valley, along the way we stopped in at the “Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge”.

Our journey, took us along the route in the map. Along the way we stopped at several places for photo ops and hikes.

Day 2

As we continued on our journey on Arizona Hwy 93, this highway is also known as the "Killer Highway", due in part because it's the way to Las Vegas and of course the stupid drivers.

I spied some interesting photos ops. Only issue, is the spots on the windshield - Bugs. So, just overlook the spots:

We're stopped. And you woke me for that?

Mommy, daddy won't let me in his lap while you are driving...

Susan and I switched driving back in Wickenburg. When we arrived in Kingman, it was time for me to take over: Now Susan was on the camera, taking photos.

We settled in at a Thousand Trails Campground just outside Las Vegas. As TT goes this place is tight, with just enough room for our slide. It is also not level, so be careful. Many places are taken over by VERY LONG term Rv's and campers.

Good thing we will only be spending 1 night, anymore and well let’s just say – not worth the effort.

While we were walking round we spied 3 other Alfa's, no one was out and around, so we do not know who they belong to.

Day 1 of our New Adventure

We just spent 3 nights at Canyon Vistas visiting Kathy, Wayne & Tungor. We have known them since 2013, and met them  in Montgomery, IL.

image

Along the way we stopped in to visit Jo & Vonis, great friends and Alfa knowledgeable person.

During our stay, I managed to repair our sensor for our awning. The older style (reed switch) is hard to find, but somehow I managed and scored a direct hit. Well not a complete hit, but I managed to make it work. After a brief test and setting, the awning came in with the wind.

On Wed., we were off on a road trip. Where you might ask? Well it has been many years since we were at Tortilla Flats along the Apache Trail. We spent a quiet time driving out and seeing the scenery along the way. We stopped and had lunch. Susan and I shared a burger along with onion rings, then later shared a small cup of ice cream.

Once back, we started cleaning up, as we were leaving the next day. We decided to leave as early as possible, due to Phoenix traffic. Guess we were excited, as we were up around 5 ish. I walked DaGirls and Susan finished up packing and bringing in the slide.
We escaped at 5:40 and were off. Route took us onto US-60, then to AZ-202, then up onto the Loop 101. We made it to I-17, where we went north to AZ-74, Carefree Hwy., heading west.

We managed to get to that point in a little over an hour. Then onto US/AZ 60, where we are now on US-93.

So as we (Susan, Tilly, Dakota & me), travel on our way,  I’ll leave you with this small photo which is will be posted on our Butt wall, Thanks to Double D’s, for helping us start it.

Wrap-Up

Alfa Owner Chapter Rally wrap-up. The big rally attendance was down, but the rally was not out. Susan and I arrived on Tuesday, in Rally Fashion.

4 Alfa’s in aa row. We spend Monday night at our new digs in Yuma, Az. Yep you read correctly. We have a new place to hang our hats or in this case, park the Rv. In March, we embarked on a different journey, finding a spot where we did not have to hear the old residents complaining about dogs. Earlier, we had stopped by after Quartzsite – Rally to visit. While here we spent time researching lots, that would fit our life style. At that time nothing really popped out to us, however after events at Rovers Roost, Susan went back to our list of lots. After a few calls we located one that fit our requirements.

Susan and Dick went through some requirements and I suggested to include some creative financing. What sort of creative financing you might ask? 6 payments, twice a year and a very small interest.  Dick and Susan (Broker Realtor)  started worked out the details and here we are. Residing on our own lot, Dakota walking freely with aa lease, hanging around and enjoying life.

So, Monday, April 2nd, after returning from Puerto Penasco, Sonora, Mx., night we hosted a impromptu gathering. We arranged for 3 Alfas’ to park our lot with one more on the street in front of our lot.

On Tuesday, we rolled out, heading west on I-8, heading to Hemet, Ca. We make good time until we were going thru the Palm Springs area. Yep, the winds picked, and we were facing 20 to 35 mile gusts, until we headed south on I-10.
All in all it was a good drive and once set up we were ready to visit our Alfa Framily, as Susan likes to say.

Our Roadrunners rally started on Wed. running 5 days, with main rally roll in starting on the following Monday.

With the many friends, crafts, tech talks, dinners, morning gathering social hours and just getting together in the evenings, time sped up. Soon it was time to wrap-up and head out.
It was Monday, April 16th, that we headed out. We needed to leave as high and gusting winds were coming into California and we needed to leave before they arrived.

.

Our travel map was the same, coming in and leaving the same way:

I drove the first leg, with Susan, picking up the second leg. Our travel time, around 5 hours.

Susan had already arranged for electric service to be turned on. We re-fuel our Rv, and loaded up on water, prior to parking. Our neighbor, Dick, north across the street, allowed us to fill our water tank prior to parking.

So here we are, arranging entrance gates for 2 Rv’s and a walk-in gate along with Rv tires pads. We are doing tire pads for 2 Rv’s, that will allow our 2008 Gold wheel base and the 38 footer wheel base Alfa’s will be able to park.

Texas State Parks and Why we are Still Here

So, what's happening. Well we left Bandera on Apr 16, Tuesday for Bastrop, Tx State Park. 1 thing we purchase a Tx state park pass for ...
