Friday June 21
After wrapping up everything here, we drove down to Salem, OR., to have dinner with Ann & JR Richards. Traffic on the highway, it took us over 1 1/2 Hr. to go 60 miles.
Susan scored us a spot at the Lepage Camp ground
Overview
LePage Park is located at the confluence of the John Day and Columbia Rivers just five miles from Rufus, Oregon, and the John Day Dam. Popular activities include river fishing, swimming, water skiing and boating. When we arrived, we asked if there was a chance, we could spend 2 nights instead of 1. Blessing happen, as site #1 left early, This allowed us to move to it, for 2 nights.
I dare say we traveled over 75 miles on this highway. Now, if you do not like 2 lane roads, winding, twisting roads with ups and downs. Going at speeds of 25 to 45 mph. Then you will not mind this road. If not, then I suggest you do not travel down the road.
Our biggest challenge came when we took the Hood River-White Salmon Interstate Bridge.
I failed to really pay attention , to the width of truck for this bridge. 9 Feet. That is really tight when a truck is coming your way, and our mirrors miss by 1 inch.
Beautiful pictures. Safe travels.
