We arrived in Friend, well not exactly in Friend or Beaver Crossing, but
someplace in between:
on 6-27 around 4:30 pm. After setting up we hade a wonderful meeting. The next day we reposition Gus to a different position.
The travels of DaGirls Rv. Piloted by Dakota and Tilly, who along with Susan and Dale travel highways and by-ways of this wonderful country. It was Koko and Della (Rainbow Bridge) free spirits that caused us to travel Freely in an Rv.

As we continued our travels heading eastward. We left I-84 and transition onto I-80, outside of Ogdon, UT.
We currently were at an elevation of 4000ft, and started climbing upto 6000+ft. Once we were pass Evanston, the elevation leveled out to around 6000ft. The elevation does not change until just east of Laramie, where there is a steep pass climbing upto 8400+ft.
It was during this climb, that I was force to slow down and pull over. Suddenly our coolant temperature climbed to 217degrees where the first point of warning would go off. Spending a few minutes, and allowing the heat in the engine compartment and the coolant to drop, we continued on eastward, climbing the 8400+ft pass.
At this time I choose to remain in 2nd gear, which allowed us to stay at 205degrees F, for the remaining climb up the pass. We had lots of power as we stayed around 1700 RPM, and could easily accelerate, if needed to 2400RPM
It was later on I decided to try and understand, why all of a sudden out temperature started to climb rapidly. The best scenario is, our engine went into a ReGen mode, which raise the exhaust temperature and the compartment temperature climbed. Anyway, we continued on into Nebraska.
We stopped in a small town call Potter, NE. Just east of Kimball. Where we located a small local campground along US Hwy 30, called Point of Rocks Motel and RV Park. Click Here for additional Information.
Seriously this really is our type of park to stay.
Ok, continuing our eastward travels, as we arrived at the Rv park, Susan wanted to do another load of laundry, which turn into a fubar. What happen, well the washer would not work, so I call Skip to the rescue. He explained it could possibly be the Door Switch, and proceeded to tell me how to verify.
Lo and Behold it was, a loose plug on the switch. Now the problem, putting the rubber boot back onto the tank and front panel. You see, I have pulled the wrong side of the boot off, and I was struggling to reinstall it. In the end I stopped as I was not getting it down, and it was late and tired. I will continue this effort tonight when we stop for the day.
Now I am either going to get it installed, or head to Lincoln and purchase a new Splendid Washer at Camping World. We'll see what happens.
Just what is it about the state of Wyoming, vast expanse land. Cities, towns are far and in between each other. I started out driving, around 0730 this morning. Big problem, our coffee machine stopped working. Not even 1 cup between us. We hit the road with a warmed up cup from yesterday's coffee. We could have stopped at a Little America road stop, but I did not. I figured another 20 miles. We should have stopped and from I-80, it had a very good layout along with RV & Motel on site. Oh well, in 20 miles was a Loves truck stop. Easy entrance and exit. No fuel this time.
Our destination is Laramie , which was 258 miles from the rest stop, we stayed last night. It was in the low 80's when we arrived. After about an hour we reposition the RV, and then put out the slide. It just so much comfortable for all. Started the generator, let it run for couple of hours, along with the 3, ac's. Once it cooled down, the outside temp had dropped to high 70's. This made it very comfortable for sleeping. We, well really me, awoke to Dakota's single, loud BARK, around 12:30. Meaning, Dad I have to go outside now. The temp outside was cool, and many more vehicles had landed, in the Welcome & Rest area. Our morning temp was mid 60's was sporadic rain drops.
So, we switch driver's around 150 miles to Laramie, so Susan, taking the lead NOW. I-80, as alot of interstates is pretty good. Few rough spots, however road constructions is always ongoing. This is in part to the current admin, which had past an infrastructure bill, aimed at highways.

Interstate 80 (I-80) is an east–west transcontinental freeway that crosses the United States from San Francisco, California, to Teaneck, New Jersey, in the New York metropolitan area. The highway was designated in 1956 as one of the original routes of the Interstate Highway System; its final segment was opened in 1986.
I-80 is the Interstate Highway that most closely approximates the route of the historic Lincoln Highway, the first road across the United States. The highway roughly traces other historically significant travel routes in the Western United States: the Oregon Trail across Wyoming and Nebraska, the California Trail across most of Nevada and California, the first transcontinental airmail route, and the route of the first transcontinental railroad, except for the vicinity of the Great Salt Lake.
Ok, so onward we go. Question we have, should we continue or stop in Laramie. We are/were 750 miles from Friend, NE. Our destination for this leg. That is/was 2 1/2 days of driving. Our plan is to always be off the highway during holidays.
One of the things Susan and I learned many years ago living in Arizona, is how to keep the Heat Outside the coach.
We start with our Sun/Window Covers installed. Then using a roll of reflective foil insulation. We cut it to fit on the Windows outside and under the Shade.
Well, we had a scare. You see Dakota had a very rough night on Sunday. We rolled into Elks lodge and it was hot. close to high 90's with a high heat index. We are normally we are very careful with Dakota and Tilly. Tilly can be carried but Dakota cannot. Then needed to be taken out, however in walking just 50 ft to green along with the temperatures, we believe she got over-heated. She work us up around 1am throwing up. No sooner did we get that cleaned up, 30 minutes later she did it again and again. She had us very worried until we gave here Pepto Bismol, which settled her down, and cranked down the 3 AC's to cool everything off. We were worry she may be dehydrated, so we were getting ready to find a vet and get her rehydrated. However, breakfast came - little bit of chicken and wet dog food, and she started drinking water. She is back to normal, which is a blessing.
We are being extra careful now, due to the extreme temps on the route we are traveling.
