Day 4 of Canada

First, let me start with this. The Milepost was written back in the good old days where Rigs, were overall 40 Ft. Meaning Vehicle and pull-behind. Rv parks along the way have NOT been improved to make allowances for our size of Rv's. Meaning 60 to 75 Ft long.

Milepost does NOT take it into consideration this new class of units. Nor do they PUBLISHED, an update in their book. So, let this be a lesson. Take a grain of salt in believing what they say about Pull-offs and places to park. Slow down, even if there are cars behind you, take your time.

Ok, so ranting is over, we have arrived in Jasper, specifically Wapiti campground and in the overflow lot. Almost to the exact same spot as in 2015. We are 2 spaces over from the original. You might say how did we do that. Well easy, don't make reservation.

Our drive up from Radium Hot Springs took us through Kootenay National Part, and then from there into the Jasper National Park. All on Hwy 93. We opted for the 1 year pass, as the per day was $18/person and the year pass was $125 CA. It was easy math.

On our drive, we were able to stop along the way, at the many turnouts. However there were others, where we just would either not fit or too many vehicles in the way.

Our Mid-Point stop, was the Columbia Icefields. This time the weather was in our favor, as it was 65 to 70 degrees, whereas last time the high was a brisk 29 degrees F. With that temperature we stayed the night and enjoy some short walks in the area. We choose not the walk on the Glacier nor did we do the Skywalk. All in all we enjoy ourselves. Cost to dry-camp was $16.25 per night CA.

Out last fuel stop was in Eureka, MT. The distance to Prince George is little over 600 miles, se we will refuel here and then proceed onward. Currently Diesel is running $130 CA/lt, whereas PR is $169 CA/lt.  One thing is be aware of the height, of the covers of the fuel stations. 4m = 13.1"

So, 13'6" (13.4999 Ft)  = 4.115 m pretty funky isn't it.

Since our last blog we have been fortunate, to see 2 bears, and 1 elk on the road, however here (Jasper), Susan has already see about 8 elks. Some of the Females are beginning to calving. We are hoping to see a newborn soon.

Tomorrows adventure, will be the SkyTram overlooking Jasper. We have allocated 2 hrs. for this adventure. Dakota and Tilly will stay home, even though we could have purchased tickets for them.

Incase you are wondering, Visible is our cell phone carrier. Verizon, owns Visible, so we both upgraded to the +, for $35 each. This gives us unlimited texts and calls, with a .5gig cap on data each day. So far we have been very well pleased. Another benefit, is our StarLink Satellite setup. So, far we have been pleased with it and where we have used it. As for our Dish Satellite TV Service, that has now failed us, here in Canada.  Which surprises me, I know the Locals based on where we would be in the USA would not work, but the Canus surprises .

Anyway, we can stream onto our Tv set with a Walmart ONM Set-Top box. ($19.95 US). Ok, this about wraps it up for this one.

Since I have not uploaded my photos from my Canon, you will have to do with Susan and mine Pixel 7 Pro CP.

  1. Sweet dear friends. You are staying at the same spot we stayed 2016. I remember a lot of Elk next and in the river!
