What a week it has been. We have traveled just to stay out of bad weather. While friends, were within miles of the Tornadoes. Plus learning that March, April and May are the Tornado months. With April being the worst. Plus learning all about the Cap, which seems to be from Mexico, thru Texas, and up Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska.
Rain fall has been anyway from .5 inches to 6 inches in some parts. With some lakes above 100% full and streams and rivers about the banks.
These are the low over-flowing rivers
Let me go back. We stayed in a COE campground title "Lake O' the Pines". As COE's goes this one really needs some tender loving care. PLUS some volunteers that work and stay on site.
The level is 5 ft higher then normal. Meaning about the 100% level.
All in all we had 50amps, water, quiet area and easy access. When we left, we were facing bad weather, which we were able to skirt, but still hit a good part of it. Destination was Lake Whitney outside of Whitney, Tx.
Now while we were in Lake of the Pines, we did manage to go into Marshall and Jefferson for supplies and a look around.
Marshall, TX
The Original Town Courthouse
Now some people maybe offended, but this is History. History is there to teach us of the past.
As we continued our journey, we traveled to Jefferson, TX.
Our next stop was Lake Whitney, a Texas State park. Lovely park, but make sure you review the photos. The first site Susan picked would have been very tight if NOT impossible. She changed us to site 33, pull thru. We fit nicely and with no issue.
We also went out to dinner at SHOOKY’S ON THE LAKE
We definitely would go back again, if not just for the FOOD, but REALLY Puppy friendly. They could Stay INSIDE.
Well that about wrap this one up.
HINT: By clicking on the Photos they will enlarge to full size.
Weather tonight - Thursday. We going to plan accordingly as to the heavy rain expected.
