Kenia - Really, Sportsman's Landing Russian River Ferry
Currently in city of Kenai, Ak. Gus arrived today after a very long and tiring drive of 36 miles. Which took us over 2 hrs. to complete. You see, we needed to refuel, both diesel and propane. Susan and Linda were out and located a 3 bears Shell Station down the street. Diesel was $3.849, while others were $4.149. Not a bad price, as for the cost of propane, $3.75, while in Soldotna at the Fred Meyers (FM), $3.99. Then once that was completed, it was off to dump. Nice benefit, FM is VERY RV friendly. Stay over night and free fresh water and dump.
So, it is now time to play catchup of where we have been and what we have been doing since the Seward, Ak. Area. These were just a few of the photos Susan managed to capture while we dry-camped at the Boulder CG. Prices have gone up alot since 2015.
Anyway enjoy these photos:
Why Russia River Ferry Crossing?
Well in 2015, we stayed 2 nights in this same fishing spot. To cross the river, you have to take a small ferry across. The river flows very fast, too fast for a person to swim in. However they do river rafting, for fishing and enjoyment.
While we were there in 2015 Susan capture this:
So, plan go back and see what we would find.
Yes you can guess it, Susan managed to capture some Grizzlies on the opposite side again
Me I managed to capture Gus sitting all pretty
While there, we also did a 5 mile hike to and from the Russian River Falls area. The trail is located just before you get to the Russian River Campground. Course you have to pay a day use fee.
But we did capture some good shots, but kept missing the Salmon Jumping up the falls. Now this may have been due to the Fishing Weir (Ladder), which they make very good use.
To the left is part of the weir, if you click on the photos and expand them, especially this one, you will see the school of Salmon waiting to go up.
Left of Center you can see the outline of the top fin
Left of Center you can see the outline of the salmon clearly.
Finally one more video by of course, Susan. Where will be later, as the file is not done processing. As Promised Video
