Day in the Life of a Camp Host Part 1

Hint, by clicking twice on a photo, it will enlarge it.

So, just what is a camp host? Or better yet what is NOT a camp host.

Camp Host are NOT, Law or Rules Enforcement. It is sad, that some camp host's, given even a little responsibility, become a Camp Enforcer.

The number 1 job of a Camp Host job is to insure, that the campers have an enjoyable time. That is it, I will come back to this at a later date.

Ok, so what and where do we go, the first is to get to know your sites in the campground. A map is great to have on have to ID the site numbers.

Next, get to know your tools, which will be different on the job. To day we are going to focus on our morning and late evening tools.

Looking at the cart, toilet paper, mob, broom, gloves, sanitizer, and towels.

Once we have the necessary tools, it's off on our route. Now along the a way, you may see something new

Today, we saw the sex life of the fish called "Carp".

Our morning rounds consist of checking and cleaning the Vault Toilets:

As you see, the vault toilets' are new. Within the last 3 - 5 years. Simple yet very effected. Our duties is to clean the surrounding surfaces. Ex: hand rails, seats and the toilet outside. We do not clean the throat of the toilet, only spray simple green inside. If the throat is a blow-out, we text our spray truck.

We then sweep, the floors, spray simple green around the toilet base and them mop.

Finally we ensure a good supply of toilet paper & hand sanitizer.
In all the I am usually done in 30 - 45 minutes.

Later in the day our job will shift to the sites.

As you notice the site gets rake, not because it is a part of our job, but mainly, we have very little to do.

Our primary job, clean the fire ring of trash, ash and big chunks of burnt wood.

So, what else does a camp host do? Well for one thing, travel around, seeing the sites and taking photos.

One of the exciting adventures:

Will talk more later.
