We said our goodbyes, have one last nite with people in our coach and then it came.
Sunday, travel time, wheels rolling and AIS. Susan drove first until we reach a Love's in Comfort, where we filled up and switch out. We continue our route thru San Antonio and switched over to Interstate-37.
Length: 143 mi
Constructed: October 16, 1959
Highway system: US Interstate highway system
As we continue our journey, we spied a picnic area on the south side of the highway where we pulled off. We allow Dakota and Tilly to walk around and switch driver's. While we were taking a break, Susan, said bring your camera.
As we headed out, with Susan driving, we were enjoying the sites and scenery along the road. We continued like this until Susan remarked she was getting tired, so we left the Interstate at exit where 99 intersect the Interstate.
As we pulled off we spied a Choke's Canyon BBQ (868 FM 99, Whitsett, TX 78075). So what's better then having BBQ for lunch. Yum.
We all enjoyed a bit of BBQ along with the great sauce. Saved 2 beef ribs and half sandwich each for later.
We continued on, with 2 different destination:
Labonte Park, where you can park for free for 3 days, just go to town hall for a permit. We were told it was closed, but not so. Many spaces were available but many people fishing. 14333 I-37, Corpus Christi, TX 78410.
Mustang Beach State Park;
Update park is closed to camping - just reopen for day use.
We landed at the Padre Balli Park.
15820 Park Rd 22, Corpus Christi, TX 78418.
The park has had new FHU sites from 50 to 20 amps. However there price starts at $50 a nite. Too pricey for us, so we inquired at the office about beach camping camping. Donna informed us yes, but you need a pass for each vehicle; $12 each.
She gave us instructions where the best beach camping was located.
Beach Access Road 1 a, hang a left.
