Life Updated and a Reality Check

Plan, leave Rover’s Roost Rv Park on Saturday, March 3rd, instead of March 4th (Sunday). This was due to the office being closed on Sunday. What ! tehy are now planning to be open? Nope, Susan and I kept to our plan, packed up, settled up and loaded up on propane. We found out later, that keeping to our planned saved us some money. Seem Rover’s Roost, ran out of propane on Sunday, so keeping to your plan will always pay off in the long run.

Our plan, head to Gila Bend and Dry Camp at the Elks Lodge.
Once we arrived and setup, it was time to go in and introduce ourselves and sign in. We were surprised, to find many vehicles in the parking lot. Seems we came upon a symposium of the Southern Trails Chapter of the Oregon-California Trails Association.

I have added a link to the website and a brief paragraph from their website:

The Southern Trails Chapter will host a spring symposium, to be held at the Elks Lodge in Gila Bend, Arizona from Friday morning March 2 through Sunday, March 4. The symposium will offer a range of field trips and presentations over three days - Friday through Sunday. Additionally, the OCTA Board of Directors will hold a workshop the evening of Thursday, March 1 and a board meeting from 9:00 am-4:00 pm on Friday, March 2.

Alright, we setup, relax, and just sat back. Plus allowed the pups to run and just have fun. That is until we found out, a few weeks earlier, was the Gila Bend Rodeo. Many of the horses stayed in the parking lot. So, we needed to be careful of the tasty morsels left around.

Sunday morning, sun was shining, and a beautiful day for a walk about. This led me to many good places with special photos ops and signs along the way.

Starting around 2pm, Rv started to roll in, in all we had 5 RV’s roll in:
John Kurz, Linda & Jeff Venable, Chuck & Cheryl Charles, Dave and Beth Brereton, and Jerry & Janice Hyder.

Dinner was held outside, cooked by me and side dishes provided by everyone else.

Monday morning, we awoke to sunshine and clear skies, as we all were up and ready to roll 30 minutes earlier. We checked radios, only to learn that 1 Rv, had been rolling on low air pressure in 2 of there rear tires. Thanks to Chuck, they had purchased a portable air compressor, putting out 150 Psi. In all we were on the road and rolling out by 8:30 am. And this time, no issues arose as we made the right turn heading south to the boarder.

It is called a Viair Portable Rv Air compressor:
40047 400P-RV Automatic Portable Compressor Kit.With sunshine and plenty or it, Susan kept rolling and heading straight without problems.

We arrived around 11:30, to see a person asking us, if you know your spot proceed and then come back and check in. Well this is different, as in the pass. Once parked, setup and relaxing, it was time to see what has changed. …… Nothing has changed, except for prices.

So, what have we been doing and where have we been going?

One was a road trip to Disemboque, Sonora. This is a small fishing village located around 80 miles south of here on Mx-3. Most of the road was acceptable except for a 5 mile section under construction.

As we left, I kept seeing signs for Santo Tomas. What is Santo Tomas? Well this evoke a response, lets go find Santo Tomas. Santo Tomas is a development site, that never really got off the ground. From papers the plan called for over 200 homes located near the coastal beach area. What we found was less then 20 homes. Underground power. Tanks for sewer and no water lines.

Very nice homes, but this is not a place you would want to live. Only visit for a short time and then head home somewhere.
