Inside Victoria

Our time spent around has been fun, many unique and old building along with the houses, I've seen on my walks in the morning.

The morning of the 19th, saw us heading to the downtown historic area, that is after a visit to Wells Fargo Branch. Susan and WF online needed some help only a branch could do. While she spent time inside (over an hour), me and DaGirls spent time walking the streets.

Finally she texted - done and mostly happy with the results. Then it was time to sped in the historic area. Whats this ? A phone call from the WF branch? What she left her debit card their? Oh well, let's go back and pick it up.

Ok, one more time, let's try it again. Heading back down and parking on the street, which was quite, as this was Good Friday.

Very few stores were open, but somehow Susan found a thrift store. So we walked around while she was inside. Then it was time to hit the streets.

Along the way, was the original church

And of course various unique buildings, sites and streets:

So, let's be careful out their, as Victoria Finest are on patrol

Fixation or Cemeteries

I always seem to have this fixation on cemeteries. Whenever we drive by one, if we can I have to go back later and walk thru them. I have been doing this the late 70's. My first one was up in New York State.

Since that time, I enjoy walking thru and reading the different inscriptions on the headstones. I enjoy, looking at the names, dates and what was written about them. We arrived in the town of Victoria, Tx., where off in the distance we saw a cemetery, so once setup, Dakota and I were off.

The following 2 headstones are significant, notice the Start next to each one. When you zoom in, the dates are 1861 to 1865. Both men in the Confederate Army.

The final headstone pretty much says it all:

This sums up what I think about Cemeteries:

The final words; Gone but Not Forgotten.
Well, everyone does forget, and you will be forgotten, but mainly - people will forget about the headstone, forget who was buried, and will not even attempt to find out who they were.

So, Susan and I will give our bodies to science, that is if they take them. If they return them,, it will only be ashes.

Highway system
U.S. Route 77 is a major north–south United States highway which extends for 1305 miles in the central United States. As of 2005, the highway's northern terminus is in Sioux City, Iowa, at an interchange with Interstate 29. Its southern terminus is in Brownsville, Texas, at Veteran's International Bridge on the U.S.-Mexico border, where it connects with both Mexican Federal Highway 101 and Mexican Federal Highway 180.[1]
It is unsigned in and around Dallas, Texas. Its historic segment through South Dakota and Minnesota was decommissioned with the advent of Interstate 29 but otherwise the route has been spared the decommissioning that has shortened other US highways. The route has major freeway sections in Oklahoma City including the Broadway Extension connecting suburban Edmond to downtown Oklahoma City.

South, Harlingen Texas. We landed at:
Paradise Park RV Resort
1201 N. Expressway 77, Harlingen, TX 78552

This is definity an older park. The sites would not be acceptable for an Alfa with Slides out. But hey, with no one around us. Lots of room, except for the stupid palm trees,

Our drive down was short, except for the extra head wind, where our mileage went down.
