Starting the Wrap-up

Going backward;

We arrived in Show Low, Az, around 1:30 pm MST. We left Mountainair, NM 7:11 CDST. It was also time to say goodbye to our extended family.

Yesterday was the day we had to say goodbye to our family. Rudy, Beate and Henna. They are heading northeast, then North and we are heading northwest. We had an enjoyable 4 days and 3 nights together. We visited many out of the way places. We learned about the Lincoln county wars, Pueblo ruins from the 1200 on forward. Saw lava areas, walked around Mountainair, NM and most of all enjoying each other's company. So we made our goodbyes and wished to be safe travels. Dakota and Tilly both say goodbye to all and see you in the fall.

Ok, so a little bit of where we were and what we saw.

May 7, day trip to Lincoln, NM (Lincoln County Wars) Little from Wikipedia::
The Lincoln County War was an Old West conflict between rival factions which began in 1878 in Lincoln County, New Mexico Territory, the predecessor of the state of New Mexico, and continued until 1881.[1] The feud became famous because of the participation of William H. Bonney ("Billy the Kid"). Other notable participants included Sheriff William J. Brady, cattle rancher John Chisum, lawyer and businessmen Alexander McSween, James Dolan and Lawrence Murphy.[1]

May, 8, we spent time traveling from Valley of Fire just North of Carrizozo, NM to the Salinas Pueblo Missions.

Along with Smokey the Bear:
Little from Wikipedia:The living symbol of Smokey Bear was a five-pound, three-month old American black bear cub who was found in the spring of 1950 after the Capitan Gap fire, a wildfire that burned in the Capitan Mountains of New Mexico.[26][27][28] Smokey had climbed a tree to escape the blaze, but his paws and hind legs had been burned.[28]

Little from Wikipedia:
The Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument is a complex of three Spanish missions located in the U.S. state of New Mexico, near Mountainair. The main park visitor center is in Mountainair. Construction of the missions began in 1622 and was completed in 1635.

Either check back or I will follow up with the complete wrap up of our journeys.

Our final journey took up on US Hwy 60. Some of you will remember, back in 2022 we followed US Hwy 60 from Az all the way to Missouri.

Anyway, we hope as you travel you choose to take the least travel road.
