2020 Yuma Bound or How to Keep your Bubble - Travel Day

 Day 1, leaving Creede, Co.

Destination - Farmington, NM., where we are required to wear a mask.

Our route, Co. Hwy 149 to South Fork and quite literally, take the fork in the road. Which is Co. hwy 160, which leads us right over Wolf Creek pass. My intent was to record as we travel up and down Hwy 160, but alas the best intentions failed. So, no video.

However, please keep this is mind.

Vehicles over 26,000 lbs, must limit their speed to 25 mph down the pass.

To do this are a couple ways, I choose to leave transmission in 5th, slow to 25 mph prior to starting my decline. I then ensure Jake, Pac or exhaust brake is on, then all I have to do is using the brake pedal to keep my 25 mph.

Seconds to reduce speed

3 - 5 sec = 5 mph

10 sec = 10 mph

15 sec = 15 mph

and finally

20 sec = 20 mph.

Once off the pass we stopped in Pagosa Springs where we switched driver's, purchased a coffee, and walked the puppies. We continued our journey on Hwy 160 to just outside Durango, where we headed south on Hwy 550 to Farmington, NM.

So, not many photos, but I did manage to get a few shots:

We landed in farmington around 3 o'clock, at the Elk's Lodge. The lodge has 4 sites with 30 amps and water, along with many spots for dry-camping, as you can see from our photos:
