Ok, so what have we been doing?

Well to start with, morning and nights out on the patio enjoying our breakfast and dinners.

Daily Morning and Evening walks with Dakota and Tilly.
Going out to garage sales on the weekends.

But the biggest project? The infamous redo of our roof. And not just the roof but the SoooLong roof.

It all started a few months ago when Susan notice new stains appearing, not only in the front but the 2 outside corners of the slide. I was lucky to find the leak in the front, but not the slide.

The leak up front was caused by good caulking installed over bad caulking on the split seam/rail up on the front cap. So, with soap, water, putty knife and elastomeric, I was able to remove all the caulk, clean, recaulk and install elastomeric over the seam. However I notice, more bad caulking over the side seams. This the cap, to seal the roofing material to the roof.

Day 1 of the project, remove the slide awning material, which just happens to be 27' 4" long. This required 2 people (Susan and I) and 30 minutes. Once done, we moved onto the main roof.

Now for the main roof, this entail removing the solar panels & all the brackets.

Our Goal 15 to 20 years maintenance free roof, except for yearly cleaning.

Next, bucket, dawn soap, scrub brush, towels and knee pads. This required scrubbing all the seams along the caulking around all the vents. By starting this way, it allowed me to inspect all the caulking. Once this was done, I then uses a pressure washer (Electric type) to clean the roof.

Next on areas that did not clean up well, I had a special TPO/EPDM cleaner, where I went over the edges, vents and any other place that did not clean up. Once cleaned, I moved onto the side seams of the roof, to the cap. This required a putty knife and just pulling off the old caulk. Once completed, used the scrub brush, soap and water, I then used the cleaner.

Here is the thing, if you think it is still dirty, then go over 1 more time with the pressure sprayer.

Next, I used a EPDM/TPO primer over the entire roof. Once that was completed, using a cloth mesh and top coat, I seal over all the flat seams. I did not use the cloth mesh over the side seams, as it was not required.

During this process, Susan suggested we remove the refrig Vent, so that went bye-bye too. Finalling, it was time for the first coat, then second and then the final 3rd coat.

Due to winds and other engagements, it was time to re-install the Slide awning material. But Wait there's more, what? What more is there. Well waterproofing the fabric material on the main awning and the slide awning material.

On the slide material, easy as Susan just laid it out, cleaned it using the sprayer and coated it, as for the main awning, well that was a little different. First, cleaning the top and bottom of the material. Back to the pressure sprayer. On the ground and then on the RV roof.

We used a garden sprayer for coating. Again on the slide material easy, but with the main awning, that required to be on the roof with the awning almost all rolled in. I then sprayed and kept putting it out alittle, until we were all done.

Now, we could finally start the process of reinstalling the slide fabric, and then onto the re-installation of the NEW SOLAR panels. (Yes New Panels). For this we needed the expertized of Jerry, (Cohort in Crime).

And this was on Friday, 15th of Nov. Not only did we get our Rv all done, but I installed 4 of the old panels on our Shed, which I will talk about on a later post.

Ok, so time for a few photos:
