Photo - Time - Quote

“Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colors. And the people there see you differently, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving.”
― Terry Pratchet

Exiting Homer

So, time to wrap up our stay in Homer.

What is it about Homer, that makes people want to come to? What else is it about Homer that draws people, surely it is not about the wild life. Least ways we did not expect to see any wild life.

Well it is not the scenery, for sure. It's all about the fishing, whether it is a charter, private or just fishing near the Fishing Hole or some other spot along the shore.

Linda met a gentlemen who loved just to fish, not just fishing but taking complete strangers out fishing with them. We met people from other places, who come to go fishing at the Fishing Hole. All it takes is a fishing license, pole of some-type and warm clothing sometime.

It's also about buying the fish, so you can take some home with you. You can pay the price of $17/Lb. or $7.90/Lb. for a whole fish less head and the guts. Then clean, filet and you're done.

It's all about the Fishing:

However sometimes we get very lucky:

Florida Sand Hill Cranes

Momma and 2 calves in town

Course there is always a Eagle or 2

But for Some it is all about their Happy Place

Walk-A-Bout and Homer

It has been a few days, since we left Kenai, Ak. and then we decided to traveled down to Homer. This all happened on July 18.

Prior to leaving Kenai, Ak., I decided to go on a walk-a-bout, even though it was raining just a little bit, it was still a good decision to do. You can only HIDE inside the Rv for so long. However, some people do it all their life. These are just a few things I saw. The first one you might say to yourself is That a Dump Station?

Yes, sometimes the easiest way to find things is to do what I did, go drive about and SEE with your own eyes, what is out their instead of the cell phone.

It was a grueling drive - over 50 miles or less then 80 miles, whichever you want to believe. Our destination? The Fishing Hole Campground on the Spit.

Almost the exact same site, when we were here in 2015.  $15 in 2015, now $30, but larger sites and on the beach. With solar and generator (very cloudy days), we are doing great.

Our View out the front Window

We had a chance of the Elks, but sitting there with a building in front and passing the coffee thru the window?

On Wed we took the drive to the end of the road. Which was on East End Road, then the road changed names to Basargin Rd. After 20 miles, it changed to a dirt road, which we followed for 3 miles. Until we could not travel any further. We were still half mile from the real end, which lead to the beach. However we went further then anyone else unless to you live out there.

Susan captured some spectacular photos:

This is a photo behind us - Really close to the End
